Banbury Central travelled to Rugby Railway Bowls Club on a beautiful sunny Saturday for the first round of the annual Jelly Mould trophy. Keith Williams with John Bone, Jane Williams and Pam Shepherd led the way for Central with an emphatic 27-11 victory. Bob Joiner with Kay Oliver, June Bone and Lionel Lewis won 20-14 and Paul Humphris with Margaret Gilkes, Jill Hart and Jonathon Pardoe won 19-13. Will Campion with Jenny Williams. Terry Ulph and Myra lewis lost 12-22 and on the Captains rink Nigel Galletly with Jim Gow, Brian Oliver and Carole Galletly lost 15-17. Overall Central won 93-77 and take a 16 point lead into the return fixture with one hand firmly on the Jelly-Mould.
 
At Banbury Borough in the Oxfordshire Bowling Association Domestic County Finals Ian Whelpton won his semi-final of the Officers Cup against Mike Jones of Witney Town in the morning to play his Central club mate Nigel Galletly in the afternoon. Mastering the weight in tricky conditions Ian comfortably won 21-9.
 
The pairs duo of Carole Galletly and Caroline Campion lost out in the National Senior Pairs at Leamington to another former International pairing of Val Newson and Pat Reynolds 9-20. Caroline starts her campaign in the National Champion of Champions on Wednesday.

In a busy week for the Central ladies Pam Shepherd also joins Carole and Caroline for the the National Triples early next week then along with Annie Gilkes joins Carole and Caroline as Oxfordshire's two representative teams in the National Pairs.
