The club started the new season last Sunday with a visit to the Startford Upon Avon bowls club, situated alongside the famous river.
On a cold but dry afternoon, the match produced plenty of quality bowling from both clubs in the 18 end game and a win on all 5 rinks by the Central side who recorded a 107-62 victory.
Andy Winter, Jane Williams, Ian Gilbert and Graham Morbey led the team home with a 23-6 win ahead of Terry Ulph, Randy Chaney, Pam Shepherd and Keith Williams, second highest at 21-10. Sue Winter, Luke Gilbert, Carole and Nigel Galletly finished recorded a 9 shot win at 23-14. Two shots behind them on 24-17 were Jill Hart, Paul Humphris and Bob Joiner, but there was no record of wether or not this was with 25% removed from their scorecard. Even so, if not they were still one shot ahead at the finish. Jenny Williams, Pete Buzzard, Alan Carter and Will Campion rounded off the day with their 16-15 win to send the Central bowlers home happy with their start to the season.
