Competitions 2021

The Club Competitions this year will proceed as far as possible as planned. The Club Members area which is accessed through the Bowlr tab on the home menu will have the competition draws and results through the season although News features will remain a part of the main website.

Entry to all of the Club Competitions is free and the Competition Entry form (use this link should be used to regsiter your entry to competitions. We would want to encourage all members to enter competitions, and if you are new to the sport entering the triples and drawn pairs competitions is a good way to get to know new club members and to improve your game.

We hope the following gives you helpful information about the different competitions available

Singles competitions.  In most cases these are played to 21 shots including the Men’s full 2 wood singles.  The handicap singles being the exception, the handicaps and an explanation of the competition will be on display in the pavilion once the draw has been made.  The Harry Walker Over 60’s can be entered by Men or Ladies and is drawn as one competition.  All members can enter the singles competitions and whoever is drawn first in a match should arrange the fixture and someone to act as Marker.

The Men’s and Ladies Two wood will be played off on a fixed date with a round robin format of limited ends (usually several mini-games of 6 ends) followed by a semi-final and final.

The Godden Mixed pairs will be run on a fixed date with a round robin format of limited ends (usually several mini-games of 8 ends) followed by a semi-final and final.  Select your own partner for this competition and record their name when entering.

The Edd Frost Seeded Drawn Pairs is an open pairs competition, entrants will be seeded and then the draw will be made so individuals can enter without a partner.  When drawn the teams may be of any combination of genders, (2 men, 2 women or mixed pairs).  This is played off up to and including the semi-final stage during the season played to the normal rules then in September there will be a final and a 3rd/4th place play off to decide the prize monies.  Prize money is kindly donated by Edd Frost and Daughters.

John Webb Mixed Pairs entrants can choose their partners for this competition and enter as a team rather than an individual, but each team must contain both genders.

Drawn Competitions for the remainder of the competitions (All Triples & Men’s and Ladies pairs) players enter as individuals.  In an attempt to achieve balanced sides for team competitions players are seeded by the Competition Committee into pools by perceived ability.  Teams are then drawn from the separate pools.  The triples will be played on set dates while the pairs (and singles) are played at mutually agreed dates as determined by the full competition rules which will be on display in the pavilion.

As the teams are seeded all playing members are encouraged to enter the Triples to gain competition experience.
