A win and a defeat in the league in two close matches and a resounding win in the return mixed fixture away to Southam, this was a more than satisfactory return for everyone's contribution.

The 'A' teams 4-2 win at home to a strong Carterton team certainly eased the relegation fears. The two clubs shared the four rinks but by virtue of the shots difference of 80-71 we claimed the win bonus.

The rinks went as follows: Will Campion skipped the first rink alongside Paul Humphris, Lee Young and Jim Gow winning by the nine shot margin that claimed the bonus, finishing 25-15.

Ian Whelpton skipping the second rink of Stuart Boyd, John Pardoe and Mike Andrew also had a good win 22-17.

Nigel Galletly's rink of Andy Wilkin, Bob Joiner and Lionel Lewis despite holding the edge coming into the finishing straight went down 16-20.

Keith McNeil's rink of father and son Ian and Luke Gilbert alongside Club President Graham Morbey never had the rubof the green for long periods but nearly grabbed a draw on the final end, going down by 18-19.

The 'B' team suffered defeat away against Division three winning favourites Charlbury by 2-4 who took the win bonus with a 76-69 scoreline.

Central's rink scores were:

Bob Wilkins, Graham Tilbury, Mal Leather and Tom McKenna 19-18.

Ron Havard, Ed Creed, Ron Cox and Jim Pickering 19-16.

John Bone, Bob Roberts, Tony Smith and Eric Trinder 17-19.

John Hart, Tony Lawford, Terry Ulph and Keith Williams 14-23.

The Sunday friendly away to Southam, unlike the heavy rain affected home fixture last month, was a sweltering success with the weather, food and scoreline, Central taking the game 94-67.

Rink details were:

John Bone, Sue Winter, Paul Humphris and Terry Ulph, 24-18.

Jenny Williams, Andy Winter, June Bone and Ian Gilbert, 23-17.

John & Jill Hart, Ron Havard and Keith Williams, 22-18.

Jim Gow, Jane Williams, 'black eyed" author Mike Hughes and Pam Shepherd, 25-14. A personal thanks to them for pulling me through the two hour plus.
